I found an ancient tin of Nikwax under the sink & used it to increase the flexibility of the leather around the crease over my toes.

Seems to have worked.

Can't remember when I bought the shoes, they've lasted for yonks.

Mostly because the soles are so stiff that they're rather uncomfortable to wear.

And they are lethally slippery on the slippery bit of the hill in the wet.
