Had a 3rd year student in here all morning.
He's working on a thingie to measure your pulse using infrared through the finger.
After a mere 3 and a bit hours, he's managed to get the infrared LED the right way round, which is a plus.
Sadly the phototransistor is in backwards & thus doesn't work.
Though naturally he hasn't figured that out yet.

The really frightening thought is that once we have the phototransistor the right way round, we have to go to things with more than 2 pins.
Like op-amps & such like.
