Remember when they said "Chess on the telly? That won't work."

I used to really enjoy watching the chess on BBC2 before going to Cubs / Scouts. (Around the same time as Monkey [ as in FiveTimes ] was on.)

I find it odd that programmes like chess do not seem to appear on the 999 channels available now.

Now there's an idea for a Plan B: a retirement home for technophiles.

Every suite has a direct 'net connection with immense bandwidth, a bunch of domain names, shedloads of storage, a freezer and a microwave.

There'll be a monster machine room on site with the means to provide thousands of virtual machines. Maybe even an IBM Z-Series.

There'll be a microbrewery on site and regular visits from a mobile stationery van. Couriers will visit daily at 4pm to collect outgoing eBay packages.
