One thing I don't do is buy cheap paint.
Dulux or Crown retains it's color and will usually cover in one or two coats, rather than three or six coats with cheap paint

B&Q do a very good non drip white silk coat for woodwork.
I highly recommend it.
Good cover and quick drying, and it stays white. It doesn't yellow in a few months like some cheap glosses etc.

I actually enjoy decorating, it is very relaxing.

And it leaves you with a sense of accomplishment

It also makes wifey grateful and more attentive

Most of all, I hate all the good stuff I have accumulated over the years being relegated to the bin as non-essential, by the she demon who controls the whole process
