Last few weeks of this contract, looking for 3 months contract until I go away for the winter. Not sure I will find anything

Just thinking about going to Italy to learn Italian, any other suggestions.

I will be heading to Goa, India sometime in November until I get an offer sometime in March.

Sounds like a great plan. Need a companionable geek to accompany you?

When I tried to learn a language in the past (Russian) I intentionally dropped myself into a village miles away from anywhere and realised that if I didn't speak Russian, I was going to starve .

Worked a treat. Three months later, passable Russian language skills, which I keep up by reading Kommersant when I can and by watching Russian TV.

I suggest you learn Greek.... I am sure Italy is a lovely place to learn Greek

Sounds wonderful - a former colleague of mine hailed from Goa and said it was a well worth a visit, even as a family holiday destination. Hopefully I'll get to pay a visit once the kids are old enough to endure the flight.

The main protagonists are probably all "spent" (I apologise for any undesirable mental image that term conjures) after some of the prolonged exchanges yesterday.
