it wiped everything as expected and completed the restore.

then began the synch process to transfer the 7000+ songs from the laptop library back onto the ipod.

a couple of percent in and the old rainbow circle appeared. and stayed.

now i've retried a dozen times. the synch process auto starts and then freezes.

I reckon you've got a freezing problem!

i'm up to date in release. maybe i need to wait for a new release and restore again.
