Hope the "spanner rash" heals up, could've been worse, it could've been freezing last night!Originally posted by zeitghost View PostWandered over to Halfords in Neath on the way home & got myself one of those 3 legged oil filter wrench thingies... since it was in the remainder bin I got it for £9.99 instead of £17...
Didn't work of course coz the oil filter was no longer round...
So I then discovered that I could get the blade of a looooong screwdriver between the aircon compressor mounting bracket and the exhaust manifold and get it to touch the rim of the filter.
A couple of sharp taps (read hefty thumps) with a rubber mallet & the fliping thing came undone.
The gorilla who had fitted it had put it on so tight that the sealing ring was flush with the metal of the filter... truly amazing considering the space available.
And since it had been sitting there since yesterday there wasn't much oil in the filter so no mess to clean up...
New one is back on, hand tight...Comment
