Elbow front-man was very respectful of the audience and engaged in some banter. Same cannot be said of Mr E from Eels who started off by telling someone in the audience to "shut the F*&^ up" until they'd been in "the industry" as long as he had! Excellent musician but room for improvement with his communication skills.

I really need to get to more gigs - I used to go to loads before we had kids. DS2 (7) and DS3 (4) would like to go and see Nickelback I think (as would I, again) but I think they might be a bit young for that.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

My 8 year old wants to see Girls Aloud and Jonas Brothers

            Oh dear

I'd use the "sorry, it's all sold out" excuse for that one I think

I started going more last year.

              Also saw
              • Zutons, enjoyable but not memorable
              • Amy MacDonald, Very good - would go and see her again.
              • Keane, have become very polished. Preferred them a few years ago when more raw. Good gig nonetheless

Pondering going to see UB40 at tail of the year, especially now they have just announced that Eddy Grant is their support.

I'm one step ahead of you on that one.

Oddly I have seen Girls Aloud about 3 or 4 years ago.

My twin daughters did the Great North Junior run and there was a party afterwards where Girls Aloud played. Worse than that was that Peter Andre also played

There was one point in his act where he just paused, turned his head about 45 degrees to the side to face the audience and said "Let's have no more war"

I remember thinking it was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen

I really want to see Muse again. That gig was so good it induced undercracker moistness.

The Big Chill festival this year is looking like it might be interesting: Orbital are playing, as are a fave band of mine called Calexico, amongst others.
