I appear to have found a source of free software and a design for some simple hardware that will allow the programming of the Atmel chip.

I hope it works better than the design out of Elektor for programming the AT89C2051 that ate 3 chips & never really worked properly ever.

I think they should introduce a kebab grill option. In fact I'm going to suggest it to product development.
