        I prefer a USB powered drive to a proper external one.

        Freecom 320GB is about £60 from ebuyer - I have a couple on my desk at the moment.

        If you want something bigger and better then a Drobo is good, but you need to install the Drobo software on the machine. I use that as my backup device rather than the old external drives that I used to have.
