They told us that we were to be disbanded, that due to political pressure Askari was over.
A week later we were out of a job.
It was the shortest and roughest contract I had ever taken on.
It was however the most ultimately satisfying.Confusion is a natural state of beingComment

had a bit of a day off today.
Nice read of the paper in the sunshine, trip to the garden centre, lunch at ham house (which only merits an ok) and dinner at Loch Fyne.

My first contract was a gov op in burundi.
A lot of attention was being focused on burundi, the congo etc at that time.
We were sent in as an obs team only, the mission was to gather intel on human rights abuses.
We were given several contacts and covers as reporters. which in my opinion at the time was the equivilant of painting a target on our backs.
It was the shortest op I would ever undertake.
We were stopped on entering the terminal, photographed and escorted back to the plane 15 minutes after landing and told our entry would not be permitted.Confusion is a natural state of beingComment
