          When I started using dos in 1987 (on an Amstrad) it was beyond the pale... it's still available on Win2k though... as I've just proved... don't think it was on Win98 though... too professional...

            The GA editor was "edit" if I recall correctly.

            You invoked it by

            $$,ed,filename

            It was a line editor, so to display the 1st five lines....

            @1/5,p

            or more correctly...

            @1/5,P

            since it didn't do a lot with lower case...

            Ideal for use with an ASR33 teletype...

                      I used the GA system for 8 or 9 years, so that's engraved on my soul; the Intel MDS was used when I had to... for loading programmes onto floppy for test equipment... very tedious stuff.
