Bet if you dig deep enough, most of the conflict in africa was funded by the yanks, seconded only by the russians.
in the Zaiare/congo v angola conflict a few years ago the yanks were funding both sides.

people seem to forget that the Gurka's are a mercenary army.
They villify some and glorify others.
The spartans were the most famous soldiers in history. yet they were a mercenary army.
they fought for their own country and rented out to fight for others.

Many squaddies are signing up with private security forces now to serve overseas.
And many are dying needlessly.
trained to fight and march in close drill the full support of the armed forces behind them, totally unprepared to rely solely on themselves.
