I got my PIC LCD program to work in 4 bit mode... it only too 4 hours.
I stole the 8 bit code off the web, got that to work and then modified it.
Never used 4 bit mode before so I had to read the datasheet...

Last night I managed to download 25Mb of a 47Mb file in a mere 3.75 hours.
It only took 41 retries.
