My mini digger has still not arrived. Just phoned Travis Perkins and they said "oh! hasn't it turned up? The hire desk manager is out of the office at the moment, I'll get him to call you back"

Just phoned Travis Perkins, and apparently their hire manager has now gone home for the day, and nobody knows what's happening.
I asked for the head office phone number, which generated much whispering in the background for several minutes,; before numpty came back on the line and gave me the number. he then said that they were waiting for another hire machine (digger) to come in off site, but it hadn't been returned yet, and that he would phone me personally as soon as it came in.
This is the same guy that told me the hire manager would phone me back after dinner
