Anyway! I fixed the pump/filter/primer diaphragm on the truck with a liberal amount of silicon sealer and it's working fine now.

If a job can't be accomplished with a hammer, a crowbar, some "no-nail" (aka "I can't believe it's not nails") and sealant then it isn't worth doing.
