Today is the day I find out if Finance can find the extra month's money to keep me on to train up my permie replacement. Then all I need to do is make sure the replacement leaves during that month.Cooking doesn't get tougher than this.Comment

This whole thing has been yet another object lesson in life.
I joined this company a year ago with another developer, we both got extensions at 6 months and 9 months, and now after 12 months, we're told there's no more money, so we both have to go. I've been a contractor for years, the other guy just started, this is his second.
As usual, I was friendly with the permies, but I don't get involved socially, since you will be moving on soon. The otehr developer started getting very pally with the boss and lead developer. He goes up to their houses to play Quakewars, etc etc.
Now there's an extra month's work going, who gets offerd it? Not he.Cooking doesn't get tougher than this.Comment
