Just bought the Mrs a new car [ well 2nd hand ], the garage have given her a cheque to get the car tax, but the Post Office won't tax it from Sunday [ 1st March ] on Friday.

If the garage send the logbook off, how can I tax the car until I get the new log book?

They'll give it you from 1st February though. The rules don't allow to predate the required declaration that it has not been used on the road since you acquired it.

If you really want to tax it from 1st March wait till Monday.
