That might be true but how many crickets would you have to eat to get the same nutritional value as a piece of beef? - and I don't just mean protein.
And they probably would have to add additives to the cricket to get them to taste as good as meat too.
    It's Deja-vu all over again!

If you ask for a veggie meal they tend to give you seafood and insects....

Seafood, fish, eggs and chicken (and probably insects) ARE vegetables. Or fruit. I forget which. Apparently.

FFS take your head out of your arse. On my wife's side they are all vegetarians let me dazzle you with some definitions:

        http://www.vegsoc.org/info/definitions.html

        Definitions
A vegetarian is someone living on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits with or without the use of dairy products and eggs.
A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, or slaughter by-products.

        Types of Vegetarian

Lacto-ovo-vegetarian. Eats both dairy products and eggs. This is the most common type of vegetarian diet.
Lacto-vegetarian. Eats dairy products but not eggs.
Vegan. Does not eat dairy products, eggs, or any other animal product.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism (Yeah I know it's wiki and probably the loose link in the chain, but agrees with everybody else)

Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes all animal flesh, including poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, and slaughter by-products.[1]
There are several variants of the diet, some of which also exclude eggs and/or some products produced from animal labor such as dairy products and honey. Veganism, for example, excludes all animal products from diet and in some definitions from attire also,[2] whether or not the production of clothing or items has involved the actual death of an animal (dairy, eggs, honey, wool, silk, down feathers, etc.).
A generic term for both vegetarianism and veganism as well as for similar diets is "Plant-based diets".[4]
The reasons for choosing vegetarianism may be related to moral, religious, cultural, ethical, aesthetic, environmental, social, economic, political, taste, or health concerns.

        Vegetarian Definition
        Ovo-lacto vegetarian -
People who do not eat meat of animals such as chicken, pigs, cows, etc. Also they do not eat fish and seafood. But they do eat eggs, egg products, milk and other dairy products. (Some Americans claim that they are vegetarian but they eat chicken and fish, by this definition they are not vegetarian)
        Lacto-vegetarian -
People who do not eat meat of animals, eggs, egg products, fish, and seafood. But they do use milk and dairy products.
        Eggitarian -
A lacto-vegetarian, who would not eat eggs explicitly, but will eat cookies, cakes, etc. that may contain eggs.
        Vegan -
People who avoid all animal products: meat, fish, seafood, eggs, egg products, milk, dairy products, and honey. In addition, they avoid wearing leather, wool, silk, and avoid using other animal products.

Had enough yet?? Just because some assholes who eat fish, chicken and insect still call themselves vegetarian doesn't mean that they really are, they (like you) are deluding themselves.

Nothing pisses me off more than idiots claiming to be vegetarians when they aren't, or idiots trying to redefine the meaning of vegetarian.

Frankly, squire, I don't give a flying flip about much of that. I am not deluding myself. I am taking the Mickey out of those who do.

I don't really believe chickens are vegetables or fish are fruit. Honest. It's called 'humour'. You might find this link useful:

"Nothing pisses me off more than idiots claiming to be vegetarians when they aren't, or idiots trying to redefine the meaning of vegetarian." Funnily enough, that applies to most of the rest of us too. That is why I took the Mickey out of such people.

You see, I do care about people, really. I get the feeling you are upset and I have contributed to that. Well, you can go one of two ways:

          a) you could believe I really did mean it that we should execute the entire population of China and replace them with cows and that I think I have the power to change the definition of a word across the whole of the English speaking world just by posting here in a thread entitled "Chinese Farts" in a "Light Relief" forum;

          b) accept I was trying - probably quite poorly - at being mildly humorous on a Friday afternoon / evening by being a bit silly on a web site.

If you are happy with option (a), get yourself up to the doctor because your medication has run out.

If you are happy with option (b), then try adding more smilies to your emails to make it more clear you are having a laugh.

          Bye!

By the way, WTF is an 'asshole'? A typo? A reference to some horse-like animal's gob?

P.S. Nothing pisses me off more than genocide. Get some perspective.

Dunno about nutritional value, but they may be healthier to eat than beef. Probably few food items are healthy on their own. My vague recollection is that they taste ok, but likely not as good as a Sunday roast.

It may have been locusts rather than crickets though.
