    Changing Personal Name

I am changing my name next year , I am fed up with my current one. Takes ages to spell. The first one will be a common well-known one , but I am wondering about the second one. Either common second name again or something funny like Tallman or Doors or I dunno. ..

I worked with someone who changed her name, to distance herself from her criminal ex-husband.

She considered "Lamp-post" as a surname because she wanted something a bit different...

There does seem to be a spate of ethnics doing this recently...not sure of the reasons- but I have witnessed managers automatically bin cv's in the City for not having anglicised names – seems a short sighted policy to me.
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

LinkedIn only has real names and of 18 million 'professional' people. I find then when seeking someone if they have a slightly unusual name it helps me. So you could try and find a name that does not appear much on LinkedIn. Or at least, a spelling that is unique.

          How about Kelvinside?

Well my current name is a cyrillic one but I cannot say I am not being given attention by agents. However the cyrillic name probably lost me some gigs. Moreover looking at an average organizational structure , you only find western names at the top spots. ( Well , and some indian , chinese/japanese names for the respective regions )

My surname has a Scottish spelling and I get comments, usually "Funny, you don't sound Scots". I understand having a 'Catholic' or 'Protestant' name can be significant in Northern Ireland and a few mainland cities. I have come to conclusion that people who shortlist based on such arbitrary decisions - as opposed to simply recruiting the best person for the job - are not going to be nice people to work for.

I shouldn't think people like that will be too impressed at taking someone on and subsequently discovering that person has changed their name to a localised one. Probably give them cause for finding an excuse to get their revenge.

If I were to change my name I would choose Viscount or Marquess as my first name and then something like Montagu, Whitelaw or Brackley.

                  These are extinct noble titles.

                  Hey presto, you become nobility.
