So I got my letter now , AML Said they are in the process of appealing (each individual will fall under the same appeal blanket so to speak) I'm not going to post everything they say (walls and internet have ears / eyes) but their tax specialist is dealing direct with the HMRC Chief Investigator.

Anyway some queries for this forum thread who have or are still with AML ...

    Who is still with AML?
Anyone who is do you intend to leave?
My worry is if we all leave then they probably would go bust and then not be abe to 'fight' for us?
If anyone has left does AML still help you?
If you left in the middle of a tax year and say went limited I guess any accountant can resolve the section of the year that was with AML?

I called them asking the same and all you get is the standard "we will respond". It's annoying because you can't be sure if they actually do respond in time.
Yeah i feel a little bit in Limbo, i got another letter today from HMRC asking for payment, i contacted AML and asked if my appeal letter had been sent and they said it had, i also contacted HMRC a couple of days ago and they said any letters received from around that date won't be processed until around the the 28th February as they get lots... i will just have to wait.

But i want to fight this, I want AML to fight this, and we should stick together so we can at least have a chance to fight this if anything should happen to AML

Have you seen this from the main EBT thread..

"Proposals to require individuals and companies to pay the tax in dispute
during an enquiry or appeal relating to tax avoidance."

Yeah i saw it, I sent it over to AML to get there thoughts on it too. seems like it will come into effect in the next budget if it gets the thumbs up, draconian measures to my mind, not sure what our options are or if AML will even bother to continue to fight our cause. Is there anybody here who was with AML joined up with any of the other groups? To get help with representation...

We in the NoToRetroTax campaign will be lobbying against this.

We will probably draft a letter for our members, and others, to send to their MP. We will also be looking to engage with professional bodies such as the CIOT.

            Watch this space...

NIUK - I know the guys who used Penfolds/Cascade formed a private group and use that to operate as a supportive group.
Is there any such group in place for AML users via ICS or any of the other providers?
As far as I am aware there are plenty of current and historic AML users who could use a private forum.

                AM Limited

I have a number of HMRC cases relating to an offshore employment with AM Limited and would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be affected by this.

I'm sure your advisors will tell you that sending a form letter is not going to work; Parliament are very good at spotting them and will disregard them. If you want to do a mass protest, advise people what they need to highlight and let them write their own.

                    Yes, they did advise this.

We will wait to see if the DOTAS proposal goes forward and then think about lobbying MPs, Finance Bill Committee etc.

One lesson PCG has learned is to get involved at the consultation stage, before things hit the floor, and aim to affect the drafting. HMG are very unlikely to change the final product even before it goes to Parliament for approval.
