Hello, I have just received a letter from HMRC : "without Prejudice". I settled my APN last year and now they have sent a letter demanding £5000 including interest as inheritance tax, by the end of 30 September 2019. can anyone help / advice. I stopped contracting in 2005. thanks,

IHT arises in various situations, but yours is the first case I've heard of an unsolicited demand. IHT can be complicated. You need to seek advice from a professional and not some anonymous poster on a forum.Best Forum Adviser & Forum Personality of the Year 2018.

There are a number of scam out there purporting to come from HMRC. These can take the form of emails / SMS messages, and even phone calls.
I would be very careful to ensure that this is actually an official demand, by contacting HMRC by phone, directly using the contact details on their Website?
Self Assessment: general enquiries - GOV.UKI was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it.
