Request from HMRC - with teeth

We are staring to see HMRC make use of powers granted them under Schedule 36.

This is either because a response to an earlier request has not been made or is in their opinion inadequate.

A request under Sch 36 can be challenged but just be aware that failing to respond can bring some heavy penalties.

If you get one, go to your usual adviser and show it to them. Get advice if you have not already.

DO NOT IGNORE this notice and it can be very expensive.

Always appeal a Schedule 36. If HMRC keep trying it on remember you are perfectly entitled to go to tax tribunal.
