I think most users will read what they want to believe anyway. You see that when users post about schemes here and seem disapointed when the answer isn't "sure, it's great, go right ahead".

Personally speaking I'd be looking for a close up and personal with the folks who sent the letters - appreciate their 'superiors' might somehow be magically unidentifiable so, and it'd be by HMRC's own choice, I'd be looking to confront the cogs if the machine itself chooses to be unavailable.

And I wouldn't be chasing what 'legally' is 'right' either - clearly that ship has long sailed.

For sure, as I've commented before, if someone has £130k turnover, pays full PAYE on say £24k, then diverts the rest to a trust vehicle. What is the chance of being caught? Not even any requirement to fill in self assessment return as far as I can see. Must be less than 1% chance of ever being questioned.

It already has. Even one of the most respected O&G jobs sites is spamming daily with "hassle free umbrella company returns up to 90%".

So, what happens now?? Will anyone who's paid up be getting a refund from HMRC?? Is the Montpelier case over now or will it continue through the courts?
