Im with Bulldog on Unlimited Plus... BE also offer a LLU (i.e not a BT line) product that offers up to 24 Mb.. they are enabling my exchange next year so might switch then if reports are good.

You get the best speeds using a download manager .. 'Free Download Manager' is good... I often have reported speeds of 2000KB/s and slightly over.

I've got Be here too, 18 Mbits down and 1Mbit up, that in addition to a business broadband from Telewest.

Bulldog may go under any time though - they stopped accepting new customers I think as C&W screwed up yet again.

I you have DSL, and something like a Speedtouch router try DMT

        http://dmt.mhilfe.de/

It looks like version 8 will support many more commonly used routers...

Its pretty straightforward to use... it effectively provides a GUI for sending telnet commands to your router that allow you to tweak performance and establish a potentially faster connection if your line will support it. There is a 'sweet spot' between performance and line stability. On my line, thats about 19Mb-20Mb...

BD are looking to sell off their client side business, and concentrate on being a provider that uses resellers for customer support etc... they are probably in as good a position as any current ISP....

They decided to sell off the whole thing - negotiations are already ongoing, most likely sale to one of the mobile operators, say O2 or Orange bought Be, someone else will buy Bulldog: max out it while you can, it might not be possible with new owner.

That's not what they have stated, and I have received emails and letters explaining this..

Bulldog will become a Wholesaler... the Retail side will be sold off.

I was lucky as I had a line problem and managed to get escalated to Business Support who promptly replaced the card at the exchange. Normal support is often quite poor.

Its just words that are not legally binding - just 4-6 months ago C&W CEO said how great Bulldog performs on consumer market, but after Caphone Warehouse success they changed their view - mark my words, Bulldog will get sold to a mobile phone operator very soon, most likely before year end.

The retail side will. Hopefully to Vodafone as I don't think they have a major ISP hook up.

Vodafone would want the whole lot - equipment in exchanges more specifically, this means complete sale, just like it happened with Be.

Anybody know of a way of levelling out the volume...? It's getting silly.....
Oh man I am always raging about this, I swear the difference is getting greater, whereas I should be getting deafer as get older.

During a typical episode of Lost there are approximately 41 advert breaks which require 82 separate volume operations. If I ever see those two 118 blokes with the moustaches in real life I will attack them with a hammer.

It is the TV equivalent of pop up adverts on a website.
