You went on a pub-crawl on your own and the world is amazing?

I'd probably cry if I went on a pubcrawl on my own, Wierdo.

Because people, generally speaking, lack philosophical grounding. They think that wealth should bring them happiness, rather than productivity bringing them happiness and material wealth being a by-product. They reverse the cause & effect, and when this easy to come by wealth fails to make them happy they think back to the good old days and suppose that life was better without the luxury - failing to see that the difference is that in those days luxury was hard fought for. And hard fought for luxury comes with pride - the root of all REAL human happiness.

we have the potential to live longer and healthier than we have ever lived before.

We in the west have a material wealth spread across the population that previous generations only existed at the top, I can afford to commission art, furniture or services only the rich would previously have access to.

Travel is easier and safer than ever before.

Accommodation is safer and more comfortable than before.

Information is available as never before. I can enjoy almost continuous documentaries or information based TV programmes or research on the web. As I type my spielling is checked.

So yes so far this is the best of times so far.

All the comments about playing games etc tend to be personal choice. But now you can do it with a lot less chance of dying from a scratch or broken leg.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
