A classic from last night's debate when discussing overseas child benefit (e.g. Polish worker in London, gets UK child benefit for kids living back in Warsaw) ..

Clegg: "These payments represent a tiny 2%"
    Farage: "Yes, that's 48000 payments - 48000 too many !"

48000 is a shocking figure - as tax payers we're mugs paying that !

From a recent forum post ..

"the vast majority of EU countries do not pay child benefit for offspring living outside their territory. The only ones that do, according to the study, are the Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, the Netherlands and, of course, us.

Poland child benefit: £20 a month
UK child benefit: £81.20 for the first child and £53.60 for the second and subsequent

If a Polish builder comes to the UK, leaving his family behind, then his children will qualify for benefit worth four times the amount paid to a resident Polish family living next door, even though their outgoings are the same."

What is more revealing is the left wing attitude to money. If such an expense represents "just 2%" then how many more "just 2%" are there that socialists want the rest of us to pay for.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone

Clegg did say that he thought the policy was wrong; it's hard to believe that even the biggest EU-lover could support that. But then he went on about people not being able to claim benefits for the first 3 months, which was irrelevant to the question.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

If I was Clegg I would have asked the following questions:

          1. You realise most businesses in the UK support being in Europe?
          2. What will you do when Nissan, JLR, Honda, Mini et. al move out of Britain, as they've said they will, since they're only here for access to the Euro market?
          3. You say you want more ties with the Commonwealth rather than Europe - does that mean giving more visas to Indians?
          4. How will you pay for your policy of increasing the armed forces and why do you need it since you're against foreign wars?

          etc etc etc ad nauseum.

It's not as if UKIP "policy", such as it is, is not riddled with holes.
Instead he defended some of the more dubious Euro practices.
          Hard Brexit now!

            5. Mr Farage, you spent several years working in commodity brokerage and investment banking, moving large amounts of money around the world to maximise profit for yourself and your clients. I think the freedom to do that is a very good thing; now why would you not support the freedom of individuals to offer their labour around the world to maximise profit for themselves and their families?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

He was not very good at his job. That must have left lasting bruises ...
If UKIP are the answer, then it must have been a very stupid question.

If Farage said that, I would have voted for him in the european elections. I love these cars!

                    6. Mr Farage, if Britain leaves the EU, what will you have left to rant about?
