heh that is true. I've actually argued this with some Americans who claim to be libertarians. Self reliance? Standing on your own two feet- hell yeah! But what about those Mexican immigrants? hmmmm that's different. The government needs to build a big wall and keep em out! -
And you think it would be somehow different if we took that influence away from government and gave it to big business? At least the government is expected to be representative of a broad spectrum of views.Originally posted by Flashman View PostIncorrect. So what you are saying is that you are more libertarian than them? Not that I consider myself a libertarian anyway, but it looks like libertarianism is used at random to justify anything that goes beyond common sense. The Tea Party label themselves as libertarians, but I don't see any stance for freedom in their actions.Originally posted by Flashman View Postheh that is true. British right wing politics is filled with MI5 sleepers ready to publicly self destruct for sabotage. I'm sure of it. These foot shooting episodes happen with such regularity they must be organised at some level.Comment

No, I think that's an unfair comparison. Obviously, some products are only relevant for a minority, but the company that makes sanitary towels is not actually refusing to sell them to men or non menstruating women AFAIK.Originally posted by d000hg View PostSo a company making sanitary towels would be penalised then - they're only selling to the subset of the female population who menstruate? And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Sadly if it wasn't for the state control that we currently have you wouldn't be writing on this forum...Originally posted by Flashman View PostI'm actually surprised just how many contractors on here seem to like the idea of State control.
Or is a case of one rule for me and one rule for the little people?“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

What on earth is a 'true libertarian'?Originally posted by petergriffin View PostTrue Libertarians are also proponents of open borders and free movement of capital and labour.
