It also creates a good impression.

How does that mean I am not working? I am annoyed about it but it isn't consuming my entire existence! When I hear him sat in the coffee area laughing on the phone it is annoying. When we are in meetings and he is playing on his phone it is annoying. I'd expect most decent contractors on here to feel the same. Like I said before it is a team effort so I am actually having to put in more effort than if he was shifting his weight! There is no chance I am not working. My CUK time has dropped by over 60% since last contract!

Hang on a minute. When it comes to whine producing you make Bordeaux look second class
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

You're a contractor. Its bugger all to do with you what someone else is doing or his dealings with client.
Not true. Crap contractors stick out like a sore thumb. It increases tensions with employees and makes it hard for others to do their job properly. Doing something about it is fairly simple. Take him to one side and point out that its common for clients to refuse to sign time sheets and even refuse to pay for poor work and that given his current behaviour when the client finally does it to him he won't have a leg to stand on as he does not seem to understand that everyone else is in at 9 not 10 and that phone logs are not hard to check...

Phone logs on his mobile phone? Which he spends about 4-5 hours on every day?

He might just be asking the guy whose CV he copied for help. I have seen this happen.

I'd give him some credit for that - I hear him laughing and joking in his language.

I first read it as him using the desk phone all day.
