100 years of war

I heard this on the radio just now. 2015 is set to be the first year in 100 years that Britain won't be at war somewhere or the other: (assuming we're not at war with Scotland by then)

That includes Northern Ireland, which perhaps is slightly stretching the truth. Interesting though.

does that mean actual fighty-fighty, or legally as well?

for example, the USA is still techncially at war with North Korea, even no bullets are flying.

so, there is no country on Earth the UK isnt technically, or literally, at war?

I think it was based on having troops actually deployed. Quite a lot of wars were never declared (Korea IIRC).
