This thing with Switzerland is almost a trial run for UKIP, who like to tell us that agreeing free trade with Europe without having to agree to things like freedom of movement is just a formality. So it'll be interesting to watch, if indeed the Swissers do go through with it.

Not why, what. That's what the UK has being doing for some while now with every lurch to the right. Would have thought the drive northwards of London property prices would have been signal enough. Prices are nothing to do with a roof but everything to do with the rich looking to protect their wealth.

Even then it's hard to understand why, without Scotland, the rUK would continue to vote blue when all they do it privatise everything from their dead Granny to selling the family silver. This is not conservatism, it's exploitation by the back door.

It'll be interesting to see both the reaction of the EU and what harm if any that does to the Swiss economy. The main concern of Swiss business seems to be being able to hire the people they need but business everywhere moans about that all of the time and in general they forget to add "for the price we want to pay" so we'll see how bad it really is.

I suspect enough European stuff is sold in Switzerland that trade is likely to remain free, but you never know.

Also (although slightly off-topic because it doesn't involve the EU), the US has been sending literally millions of illegal immigrants, mostly Mexicans, back to their countries of origin. I think they've repatriated 2 or 3 million already and aim to expel about 12 million more.

They are privatising everything because the public sector are so useless. As for lurching to the right we need a lot more of it. Scotlands problem will be that it will not stimulate entrepreneurial activity.

I don't know, they have quite the entrepreneurial spirit up there.
