It's far too big an organisation to be able to make sweeping statements about parts of it being tulip. (Would definitely suggest that anything involving environment/infrastructure is crap though !!)
I've been there loads of times (and am about to go back, albeit wfh mostly) and have always found the whole recruitment process to be pretty quick, although they've really started going OTT with the background checks. I'm currently getting my third lot in 18 months. Last time I started via the normal agency/client interview route, I got an agent call, telephone interview next day and a green light from the agency 30 mins after the interview.
Maybe, Mr OP, they didn't think you were that great
