Currently working on my third in a row contract where code was 'offshored because it's cheaper that way', then went overbudget (£, RAM, ROM,CPU), then was offshored to someone else, same result, then back to dear old Blighty to have the quality tested in........guess what?

The last project I worked on was re-developed from scratch in-house at ClientCo - developed, tested, stress tested, performed well in live during Christmas which is a peak period - handed over to 3 new permies that ClientCo hired to maintain it (very pleased with myself!).
That ended 5 years of offshore development and maintenance of a critical business process - one of the 'features' of the old system was a server bounce every few hours as the system would just fall over.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the rewrite was getting rid of reams and reams of useless bloatware in their code!

I have successfully delivered projects where the development was offshore. If you are blaming the offshore teams for shoddy development, you need to look a little bit closer to home.

          So have I.

That's not the point of this thread. The point is responding to the troll who thinks that "All our jobs are going to India". Which is tullipe as anyone with any experience in the real world would understand.

Re-read my post. Squint if you need to. Try to read without moving your lips. Then come back to me and see if you can see that my post was on topic.

Sorry Suity. I must bow to your greatness.

The original thread ( and the one that I am responding to ) says :

"Ultimately, the only thing stopping ALL of our work being offshored is... ...management nervousness."

And my position is that, for a huge number of reasons, no its not.

So I am not sure what you are going on about.

And quit being rude. It doesn't suit you.

You are at risk of getting off shored then.

I'll happily manage things from on shore. You better work on your pole choking skills.

Have you got some homo-erotic fantasy that you need to share? You do seem to throw that line in frequently when people disagree with you. Sounds like you are repressing something.

As far as my work being offshored? Well I don't think so. Last two roles were running programmes with budgets greater than $10M with teams of 20+ ( both delivered successfully, thanks for asking. ). Using a wide variety of vendors and staffing models, across multiple time zones.

And even if I found work dried up ( it's a fallacy to think there is a finite pool of work .... the more work that is done the more is created ) well I've always got my plan 'B' to fall back on. Which is my software product company I created. Which is successful and brings in enough money to live off and I'd never out-source myself as that would just be stupid.
