Prague, good food, culture and entertainment. First class medical care and many corporates are moving their business to the Czech republic. English widely spoken.

I liked Tallin when I was there recently...so maybe there. I was thinking Barcelona as well.

I know Amsterdam and Brussels a bit too well so not keen on pitching my tent there. I like living in the UK just fancy actually living abroad again.

      Anyone recommend anywhere in Germany?

            Finland!

Helsinki: low crime, friendly people, decent food, beautiful country, reasonable cost of living, many good-looking birds. Next to Tallinn for a good night out. Close to London/Amsterdam.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Munich is nice, the bavarians are more relaxed and dont take things as seriously as the northen germans, the 'English garden' is a sight to behold on warm summer afternoons!
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Suggest you do a weekend break and see for yourself.

Funnily enough after a weekend in Madrid I started appreciating London a lot more. As long as you avoid the tulipty parts it can be great.

Hamburg - good night life, good airport hub & infrastructure, reasonable renting just outside city centre, v. cosmo (& I don't mean the Rieperbahn)
