So to summarise I'm going to try and lock them down into a new contract.
There we are, was that so hard?

OK, I'll be the Cassandra then. Grab the extension but don't think you've locked them in as they could dump you anytime. Well done though.

      Where is NLUK anyway?

If it was me I'd be pinging the market to see where it's at.
You know where they stand. You have the upper hand now.

You only have a catalog of embarrassing failures to pick from when you give out advice on contracting.

Anyway should I get them to tear up the current contract and get them to issue another one with revised dates. Or simply change the schedule with new dates. Pretty sure it would be a bad idea to wait a few months for them to produce a new contract. Want to make sure there is no implied Moo. Also get it in writing /snap their hand off
What does signing an extension / new contract now give you?

Personally, I'd wait until nearer the time so you can weigh your options up carefully then - you may have a better offer, the market may have changed, or you may hate the project / client and want out at that stage. Signing an extension at this stage gives you nothing, since they can always terminate before then if they want rid of you.
