Though I do agree with you that he would know how to set it all up.
    He's 4. So, it's unlikely.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

I knew 4 years olds who could read.

        It was damn annoying.

        They are all older now.

Don't worry he will grow into it and as he is male he will have no need for instructions or diagrams.

Dunno if it helps, but I have one of these which I find very useful:-

When you get really advanced, set the lappie up as dual screen and use your tv as the right hand screen, then you can carry on posting on here whilst watching tv-catchup or whatever (c:

If Chromecast doesn't ship in the UK yet, there are certainly similar things out there, all designed to turn a 'dumb' TV into a 'smart TV'. SEarch for "smart tv box" or "smart tv set top box" or even "netflix set top box" on Amazon.

                    Here's just one example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Roku-2400EU-.../dp/B006VTASUQ

Many 2-3 year-olds can use an iPad scarily well. Apparently at this kind of age they are earning to write faster than their fingers can keep up with the dexterity needed, so tools which allow them to express themselves without relying on such manual precision can be quite useful.
