I did not go to public school but I have several friends who did (some from home, some from university). They have done no better than I have in terms of career and wealth. They seem to have many more tales of fellow classmates who failed or ended up taking drugs or getting into trouble with the law. This seems to be mainly because the parents think by sending the kids to public school they can wash their hands of them, simply drop them off at the door and pick them up when they churn out the other side of the machine. Maybe having conscientious parents is more important than the school itself.

The only common thing they have is a code of morals drilled into them, but then so do I and I don't think it differs very much. So in short, if you live in a bad area (why?) then maybe it is worth it. But if the local schools are OK sending them to the local comprehensive or the local public school will probably have little influence on the end product, at least a lot less than the effect of the parents.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

        Here here Bagpuss

I remember at Uni. some students from good schools really went off the rails, and some of the best students were the ones who'd moved up from their apprenticeship/technician training, probably having been to a not so good school.
        I'm alright Jack

Your gonna love this then, my missus will receive equivalant of £900 pcm for being an " At home mother " and the boy will receive equivalant of 300 pcm for being cared for at home, plus free kinder garden and childcare if she wants it, this applies to them both regardless that I'll be earning equivalant of 75k per year.

In which country are you? Germany?
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

. . . and quite frankly you can keep it! A more wretched place you'll have to travel a long way to find (well, maybe to Slough, and the first person to mention 'friendly bombs' can go to tht back of the class).
                    The vegetarian option.
