How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

There is a whole sub culture around it with the younger generation. I'm too old and warty to bother with it, but her indoor's daughter does (she's 25 - the daughter, not my other half .... )

The daughter broke up with her boyfriend, which was stressful enough without the facebook thing to get through !! She had to 'de-link' herself from this bloke, which in turn caused a message to be sent to her saying that she 'was no longer in a relationship with xxxxxx' - this caused another great round of wailing and chocolate eating. Then some of his 'friends' did a 'like' on the fact they had broken up ..... jeez, even more tears and stomping around.

I suggested she 'de-facebook' herself and it would all go away. I was told she would be a 'social leper' if she did such a thing (sigh)

Surely she would be an antisocial leper?
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

                Definitely this.

It's become 'necessary' to state your relationship status, location, favourite this-favourite-that etc. on Facebook for it to be true/official in the mindset of some. I'm wondering now just how many people do things in their everyday life and have to have it in writing on their profile for it to be true.

'Just popped to the shops in my jim-jams for some fags lol' - Yes, yes you did it for real because it's written in the rightful and accepted place
                Permietractor (probably)

So she's single, 25 and vulnerable, can I have her number?

On the other hand, it might encourage people to go and do interesting things so they can post about it.

What I hate people is people on Linkdin who you vaguely knew socially several years ago, who have no professional connection with you whatsoever endorsing you for some professional skillset , presumably expecting the same in return.
