Since 2008, prices have gone up by more than 50% for unleaded and still seem to be creeping upOriginally posted by original PM View PostI must have a large tank filled it up and got 20 fags total = £102.44
like wtf!!!
is it petrol prices or are we just being burned on tax even more than we were?Doing the needful since 1827Comment

Both, as the tax is a percentage of the price. But they have stopped putting the tax rate up for the past couple of years, so the main driver now is the price. Which of course is completely unrelated to the cost of crude oil somehow, unless it's upwards.Originally posted by original PM View Postis it petrol prices or are we just being burned on tax even more than we were?Comment

LPG works OK here in NL; plenty of filling points on the motorways, but these days diesel's more popular as it's cheaper than petrol on this side of the sea and diesel engines are vastly improved.Originally posted by Ticktock View PostLPG... never took off.
However, LPG has found a new market; company cars that are more than 15 years old are taxed less heavily than newer cars, so there's now a booming market in 15 to 25 year old Jags and Daimlers with LPG installations. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? I believe it's because the benefit in kind is based on the list price of the car when it was new. So a E-Type jag company car would be taxed as if it were a £3000 car.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostLPG works OK here in NL; plenty of filling points on the motorways, but these days diesel's more popular as it's cheaper than petrol on this side of the sea and diesel engines are vastly improved.
