For the sake of the rest of us, it sometimes just makes sense to draw certain lines in society. Thieving should never be rewarded.

People should not be put in a position where they are forced to steal.

Now you are being sensationalist. Of course those of benefits should be given vouchers not money. Else they will spend it on cigarettes and booze and leave their kids to starve.

Good plan, there is just one flaw in it - current level of costs in UK prisons is like £4-5k per month - cheaper to pay benefits or give food vouchers.

Oh come on! Jail is a miseable place. Locked up 23 hours a day where you are rogered all the time by bubba. How would you like it?
