    Have a 'calm before the storm' weekend:

    Loads of stuff has simply been dumped into the garage on the trailer etc which means I will have to spend tomorrow re-organising it ready for our 5 day medieval event at Raglan castle. Need to meet up with my armourer to see what he has done with my helmet, pick up my new shield and fill out some more details for my next rig - I am thinking of having some bits of it gilded with gold just because I can.

    Sunday - not much other than taking my soon to be 2 years old to a stream fair.

      Looking at a house, eating, drinking, endurance ride with the race club on Sunday then weather permitting, a barbecue.

          That's the one.

          No, mate; the moment when you realise your knee is chronically knackered and won't get much better, just as I had with my shoulder. Cycling offers as many challenges as running, if not more, and it won't be anything like as bad on your knees as long as you keep the cadence up.

            Taking the children to my parents and leaving them there for the week.

            In previous years, that would have been the cue to go to America for the week. This year it means that we have a week of packing boxes and sorting stuff out.

              I thought you were doing that big cycle this weekend?
              The Brutal is not going anywhere, your need knees for at least another 20 years or you wont be going anywhere either If you must go - do the swim then help with the marshalling, its way more interesting being on the other side of a silly event ...

              Speaking of which, the silly bike ride is going to be carnage, got a rowing race in 2 weeks and a couple more after. The eye-candy is tremendous in this weather so my time is best spent in a boat and at the bar

                Swimming hurts more than cycling. If I can keep fit then I can do both and skip the run. My knee may be fixable easily by the surgeon - or he can get me through it. After the brutal I am giving up running. And probably all events. Its too expensive - its okay for you rich, single, totty types. And it takes up time I could be spending with the kids(as much as they are hard work and annoying I do love spending time with them). And with the move to Wales I won't have health insurance.

                  Try some time trialling on the bike instead; doesn't take as much time, needs structured but not heavily time consuming training and it can satisfy any freak's lactic acid addiction. And you get to play with some nice toys;

                    I don't really do time - I prefer distance.

                    Maybe I could do Land's end to John O'Groats and back again? Mrs BP and baby BP will join me - as long as they go in a car and we stay in 5* hotels with spa.

                    Or maybe I could join you on that Italian thingy? Issue was I could not take my bike apart for a bike box - now I have a bike box we could drive all the way there and back - and Mrs BP can take my kit......

                      It'll be next summer seeing as this year I was somewhat set back by permiedoom misadventures.
