So what happened to the shop MF ? You seemed to be securing supply at the right price, website in place to expand the reach ? I was impressed at you having a go at something different, some talk of other shops etc. Just not enough people coming through the door ? Seems like all such independant retailers are unable to compete.
There are a number of reasons why I closed the shop down, the main reason though was it was in the wrong town with the wrong staff, the wrong customers and then the landlords doubled my rent overnight because I had the wrong lease.
So effectively shop 1 was turning about 180k turnover, making a profit of about 23k and the rent increase was 15k. So this particular shop wasnt worth my time. Soon as the profit on one unit dropped to less than 10k it wasnt worth it compared to contracting and time it takes me.
The thing is most people dream of making 50k, 70k a year. As a contractor I can clear near to 100k a year fulltime, so it makes it very difficult to make a jump to new things.
Im going to contract until October and will then open a new shop with a proper lease for xmas.
