I work from home. Have done quite a few contracts with between 1 and 3 days a week at home.

Actually 3 days at home, 2 in the office is the perfect compromise and most efficient way for everyone to work. It's great missing the Monday and Friday commute nightmare.

Any company that sends some/most it work offshore (i.e. about 90% of those in the UK) is being pretty hypocritical in not letting it's UK development staff work some time away from the office.

I certainly wouldn't let any developers work from home - especially Contractors. They'd be spending all day p1ssing around on Internet forums and the like.

I've spent the last 3 years working from home office. <threaded>Never worked so efficiently in all my life which is why I can take on 3 simultaneous projects.</threaded>

No commute with Mr Stinky arms or Ms Red Bull gulper, no delays in tube tunnels while busting for a whazz, no M25 holdups because a Polish truck driver has fallen asleep at the wheel and driven into Mrs Miggins doing 45mph in her Morris Minor, no support monkey bleating in your ear, no manager desperate to build his virtual empire with his 09:00 daily worthless meetings, no perms moaning about how much you make and how little they know, minimal politics, no deaf person without social skills shouting at the top of his voice going on about how he banged his wife while she was on the rag,... FFS...

Cons: minimal exposure to a plethora of 20 somethings in extremely short miniskirts.

Pros: Unlimited download of unrestricted porn! And Pimms on a sunny lunchtime that costs less than a pound!
