    Best and worst interview questions

    Best:

The technical guy is on holiday, so can we cut the interview and have you start tomorrow morning

I have a table EMP with columns NAME, SALARY, DEPTNO. How would you write a query to give me the top three earners in each department?
I explained the different ways to get the top three, what they wanted was a "that's a bollox question - what do you mean 'top three'?" answer.

      Worst question:

In C++ what happens inside alloc?

      Best question:

Here is how our system is configured. We are seeing *specifies a technical issue*, why do you think we are seeing it? How do you suggest we fix it?

I want you to build me a house, now ask me some questions...

At end of interview: "You forgot to ask me one important question, what am I? Because I'm a Giraffe...".

                  Best interview:

Let me give you a list of what we've done, and where it's going wrong, and then you tell me if you want to join the project team and fix them for us.

                  There were two questions:

                  - Have you got any holiday planned?
                  - When can you start?

                    Walking from reception:

Interviewer: 'Sorry we've had to bring you all the way down here.'

Me: Thinking (feck, this had better be good!)

Interviewer: 'It's security and all that, bottom line is we've heard all about you and the only question can you please say yes and start asap?'
