Sounds like good commercial opportunity to cut the parasites out from yet another market.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostThat agent fee is typical all across Germany. Sometimes you get provision-free places, but they disappear in the heart beat.Comment

There was data centre near Oldbury that used to regularly get petrol bombed by the locals on the estate. Its the only DC I ever went to, where I got to bring my car insideOriginally posted by AtW View PostIt's a good strategic location for a business in UK.

Ha ha, mug. You used a immobilienmakler which anyone in their right mind wouldn't do maily because of this cost. I've moved 3 times and never used one. The first two times I just put an ad in the paper and someone contacted me. This time I rent directly from the builders of the property. Remember that you do get your deposit back at the end and hopefully your landlord has no access to the account where its held and that they don't find anything wrong with the place when you move out which can be a real pain in the arse.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostDo you think so? I'd think tenants would be up in arms if the had the same conditions here in Germany imposed upon them.
Lets see, 3 months deposit up front, 2.3 x one months rent for agent fee, + month rent. That was €12k I had to cough up before I got the keys to my apartment.
Luckily there was a kitchen. Spent another €12k buying furniture for the place.
All that being said landlords are not allowed to increase rent by more than inflation, and I can stay here until the day I die if I wanted. After all bricks and mortar, you an't take it with you.
The agents do **** all here and get paid a ******* fortune for it which is why people hate them and try their best not to use them.Originally posted by AtW View PostIt's fine to have good deposit, agent fee sounds way too high but maybe they do a lot of checks.
Plus side is that when you rent there you can't be kicked out because your amateur landlord decided to sell up in order to cash in.“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Actually I lied about that part, but just wanted to give an impression of the costs involved to the newcomers. We've moved house twice in Munich without paying a provision.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostHa ha, mug.
