No, but there is a right to have some kind of home - in this country tenants got really bad contract conditions, this sort of tulip is unthinkable in countries like Germany. -
How do figure that out when it can cost landlords thousands and months of effort to evict problem tenants?Originally posted by AtW View PostNo, but there is a right to have some kind of home - in this country tenants got really bad contract conditions, this sort of tulip is unthinkable in countries like Germany.Comment

Go relocate. Why on earth you choose to run a dot com / datacentre style business from UK (and then choose Brum FFS!), with our high housing costs, high taxes, tulipe weather and high energy costs is beyond meOriginally posted by AtW View PostNo, but there is a right to have some kind of home - in this country tenants got really bad contract conditions, this sort of tulip is unthinkable in countries like Germany.

Do you think so? I'd think tenants would be up in arms if the had the same conditions here in Germany imposed upon them.Originally posted by AtW View PostNo, but there is a right to have some kind of home - in this country tenants got really bad contract conditions, this sort of tulip is unthinkable in countries like Germany.
Lets see, 3 months deposit up front, 2.3 x one months rent for agent fee, + month rent. That was €12k I had to cough up before I got the keys to my apartment.
Luckily there was a kitchen. Spent another €12k buying furniture for the place.
All that being said landlords are not allowed to increase rent by more than inflation, and I can stay here until the day I die if I wanted. It's fine to have good deposit, agent fee sounds way too high but maybe they do a lot of checks.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostDo you think so? I'd think tenants would be up in arms if the had the same conditions here in Germany imposed upon them.

Plus side is that when you rent there you can't be kicked out because your amateur landlord decided to sell up in order to cash in.Comment

That agent fee is typical all across Germany. Sometimes you get provision-free places, but they disappear in the heart beat.Originally posted by AtW View PostIt's fine to have good deposit, agent fee sounds way too high but maybe they do a lot of checks.
