But your car was tulipe and those people might get new ones from the insurance.

My car was caught in a hail storm like that on Lake Geneva eight years ago. Cause around £6000 worth of damage - every panel had some kind of dent in it. The insurance paid for it all, but many people's cars were written off, and as so many cars had been damaged, it took months to clear the backlog of repairs. Some parts of the town looked like bombs had gone off. The temperature fell 13°C in the space of 15 minutes.

A few people were killed last year in a violent hail storm in Switzerland.

What is there to discuss? It's a pretty dull story about some hail and cars.

I could well believe that. And I'll bet insurance premiums were hit as well.

The insurers were covered against such mass claims by their re-insurers, so no-one paid any excess when they made a claim, and it didn't affect premiums or no-claims bonuses.

Weird. Normally insurers don't need any excuse.

Swiss insurance works a bit differently.

This is from a hailstorm last year near Zürich.

As much as I like to see French cars get trashed, that's pretty terrible.

There was lots of leaves and tree debris strewn all over the place here.

Bizarelly, 45 minutes after the rain stopped the lake in the square subsided, all the outdoor furniture and pavements dried out completely and we sat outside like nothing had happened.

The hailstorm in Denver last June caused $321 million in damage.

It wiped out the majority of the hire cars in the area (just had their summer convertibles delivered) and a whole load of planes got hit.

We were there in the August and there were still no hire cars available for hire when we got there.
