    An olive branch.

    Or a bottle of whiskey.

    Or a poem.

    Am I close?
    Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

      not close enough

      its obviously an easy one to google, I was just wondering what you folks would consider leaving.
      I liked the idea of a poem

      but the people who thought about a religious offering were correct (and the sweets - alias)
      they buried a cross, and some sweets

          Mallory got there first and they should have found the photo of his wife that he'd said he was going to leave at the summit and was missing from his body when they found him in '99
          How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

            Well, as nobody else seems to have bothered:
            1. Tenzing left a red and blue pencil belonging to his daughter;
            2. He also left an offering of sweets and chocolate;
            3. Hillary buried a crucifix given to him for that purpose by John Hunt, leader of the expedition.
            4. Oh, and they planted flags.

            EDIT: ah, just seen EO already posted about the sweets and the cross - but not Tenzing's daughter's pencil

              Bastard. That's a hell of a prank, even for a Dad!

              "Where's my pencil, Daddy"
              "At the top of the world's highest mountain"
              "No, really where's my pencil"
              "Tee-hee..."
