I'd recommend at least starting to watch it and then decide whether it is something that interests you. Definitely worth giving a chance. I've read the books first and still find the TV series sufficiently interesting to follow.

I kinda like fantasy stuff if it's done well. Maybe I should read the books before going to the dramatisation but would I be disappointed?
