I get my 4x4 Bridgestone Duellers for around £100 a corner - what are you getting for £800?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

      Brake shoes. Not tyres.

It's what cars had when the bloke with the flag used to walk infront.

Landys don't have brake shoes they have pads (handbrake may have them though)

But if it's £800 for 8 pads wtf

I assumed shoes meant brake shoes, and assumed it was a classic landy.

The only shoes that should cost £800 is the wife's cheap pair.

So I thought - I know battery is good on mrs old mini I'll connect that up and jump start off this one. In my rush, stuck battery terminals on wrong way.
Strangely it started but then there was shedloads of smoke from under the bonnet.

So I nearly shat a brick, whipped keys out quick and pulled battery terminals off.
Had a look under bonnet expecting to see a mess but it dont look that bad.

Possibly I've knackered the alternator I think. Bit too scared to connect it all back up. Waiting for AA now!

Could be worse - wife would have set fire to me if I'd trashed her mini!
Your connections were the correct way around; it is just that your wife parked the car facing the wrong direction.

I bridged the terminals on a 24v land rover with a spanner recently, I let go pretty sharpish!
